The exhibit: Biskra by Matisse in Nice

Sahara, spring 1906. It in the heart of an oasis, the Biskra oasis, where the artist stayed for 15 days and 15 nights, that he created a unique work of art: "Street at Biskra." The exhibit is a true voyage in time, recounting the finest hours of this exotic spa that attracted artists and writers at the turn of the century. "I got to know myself a little bit better" admitted Henri Matisse on his return from his sojourn - which affected him so profoundly - across the Mediterranean.

"Biskra, Dreams of an Oasis," until 28 janvier 2018 at the Matisse Museum in Nice.

The coffee table book: Monte Carlo by Helmut Newton

"I love the sun, but there's none left in Paris." That's why Helmut Newton, the master of the nude, and his wife, Alice Springs, moved to Monte Carlo in 1981. Photographed between swimming pools and palm trees, azure blue and striking architecture, his provocative models reflect an entire era, a style that's, at the same time, vintage and visionary. It's the new Fashion Eye opus, the Editions Louis Vuitton collection of books, that communicates a cult photographer's vision of a city. In Louis Vuitton bookstores and boutiques, 50 €.
