Riviera Impressions at the Lily of the Valley Hotel

What does “French Riviera” mean to you?

French Riviera means freedom.  It’s getting up early to see Saint Tropez awakening, getting lost in the inconspicuous immensity of the Mediterranean scrublands, admiring the sparkling sea, letting go on the sand.

How would you describe the sun at the hotel?

Omnipresent!  Le Vista, Lily of the Valley’s main restaurant, has a patio with 180° Mediterranean views where it is possible to follow the sun’s path in the sky from dawn to dusk.  All of the rooms open on large private terraces with double sunbeds to enjoy the rays in privacy all year round.  Indeed, the French Riviera sun is part of the Lily of the Valley experience.

How do guests react to the hotel rooms?

My father and I had absolute faith in Philippe Starck for the Lily of the Valley design.  Our only request was for a hotel conceived to be just as delightful in summer as it is comforting in winter.  And we’re pleased with the result.

What are the best places on the property for admiring the sunrise and the sunset?

I appreciate watching the sunrise through the pine trees at the Restaurant du Village, our healthy restaurant.  Encompassed in nature, the patio is always calm.  Here, one feels the cool night as the first sunrays pierce through the branches of the centenary trees.  It’s a magical place to enjoy the beginning of the day, especially while sipping a matcha latte.

The bar terrace has become mythical at dusk in very little time.  Overlooking Cavalaire Bay, a magnificent gradient of carmine and mauve end the day in beauty.

What is the best place on the property to catch some rays?

Absolutely, the Wellness Village swimming pool.  Semi-Olympic in size, it’s sheltered from the wind and the perfect place to enjoy the local weather beginning with the first rays of the day.  What’s more, we maintain the temperature at 28°C.  In summer the tranquility of the space is greatly appreciated by guests who spend time lounging on the big sunbeds.

Your hotel in a song?

Probably the gentle bossa nova sound of Aquas de Marco by Stan Getz.

Your hotel in one fragrance?

Citrus fruit!  From lemon to sweet orange and citron.  Local citrus fruit is the aroma of the Lily of the Valley, a tangy flavor of freshness and energy.

Your hotel in one expression?

Happiness is in the little things, the Lily of the Valley mantra.  It’s all about details, our teams are constantly investigating everything that could please our guests.

You can find the spirit of the Lily of the Valley Hotel on line.  Reserve your place in the sun and don’t forget to pack your suitcase with Summer Collection.
